Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 June 2026.
The short version: your audio and video never leave your browser. CheckMyMic runs entirely on your device. When you test your microphone, camera, speakers or any other device, everything is processed locally using your browser's built-in APIs. We do not record, upload, or store any of it.
What we collect
At launch, CheckMyMic sets no cookies and loads no third-party tracking scripts. Like any website, our server records standard access logs (such as the page requested and a timestamp) to keep the service running and secure. These logs contain no microphone, camera, or other device data, and are retained for a limited period before deletion.
Microphone & camera access
The mic test asks your browser for permission to access your microphone, and the webcam test asks for your camera. That access is used only to show you a live preview, meter, and verdict in real time, on your device. The optional “record & play back” (mic) and “snapshot” (camera) features keep a short clip or image in your browser's memory so you can review it; both are discarded when you leave the page and are never transmitted. The audio and video streams are held in memory only and never sent to any server.
Children's privacy
CheckMyMic is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under 13. Because we collect no personal data, nothing about a child is gathered or stored.
Analytics
If we add analytics in future, we will use a privacy-friendly, cookieless solution and limit it to aggregate, non-identifying counts (for example, how many tests pass versus fail). This page will be updated before any such change.
Advertising
CheckMyMic shows no ads today. If we introduce advertising later, this policy will be updated to describe it, and visitors in regions that require consent will be asked for it first.
