Let's get you ready

Run the full check, or test each device on its own. You'll get a clear ready/not-ready at the end.

How the interview ready check works

Three quick checks, one honest verdict. The mic step asks for microphone access (the getUserMedia prompt), listens for about three seconds while the meter dances, and passes when it clearly hears you speak. The camera step opens a live preview and passes when real video arrives. The speaker step plays a short tone — and since your browser can't hear your room, you confirm whether it reached your ears.

Once all three are done you get a clear ready / not-ready verdict, with a Fix link for anything that failed. Everything runs locally: your audio and video never leave your browser, and each device is released seconds after its check ends.

Want a deeper dive on any single device? The full microphone test shows live levels, noise and clipping, the webcam test checks resolution and frame rate, and the speaker test plays each channel separately.

Interview ready check FAQ

What does "pass" actually mean for each check?

The mic check listens for about three seconds and passes when it clearly hears you above a minimum level. The camera check passes when a live picture actually arrives from your camera. The speaker check plays a short tone — you passing judgment on whether you heard it is the test.

Is my audio or video uploaded during the check?

No. The mic level is analysed in memory in your browser and the camera preview is a local stream — neither ever leaves your device. Each device is also released seconds after its check finishes, so nothing keeps listening or watching.

Why does my browser ask for permission twice?

Microphone and camera are separate permissions, so the browser asks once for each the first time it's used. Choose Allow both times; you can revoke either from the lock icon in the address bar afterwards.

One check failed — what should I do?

The verdict gives you a Fix link straight to the full tester for whichever device failed. Those testers show much more detail — exact levels, resolution, per-channel sound — so you can see what's wrong and follow the matching fix guide.

When should I run this check?

A few minutes before you join, on the same setup you'll use in the call — same headset, same browser, same room. The whole thing takes about 30 seconds, which leaves time to fix anything it catches.
